Rohit Sharma is likely to have an informal meeting with the chief selector for the squad selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 that will be played in the West Indies and the United States of America from 2nd June onwards.
The teams must announce their 15-member squads for the upcoming T20 World Cup is 1st May. Ajit Agarkar flew for the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals to have a chat with Rohit Sharma and get further clarity before they pick the squad for the mega event.
During the meeting, there would be a couple of slots for discussion as most of them pick obviously. The team management needs to be confident about Hardik Pandya’s bowling issues. Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh have shown tremendous form during the ongoing IPL 2024.
Pant would be the first wicketkeeper for the mega event with his superb form and wicketkeeping for Delhi Capitals this season. The option is between KL Rahul and Sanju Samson for the second wicketkeeping. India’s current coach Rahul Dravid wants KL Rahul into the team.
Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are a certainty in the squad. The fight for the third spinner slot would be between Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi. Yuzvendra Chahal has performed brilliantly in the ongoing IPL for Rajasthan Royals might be not in team management’s mind.
Team India has a good chance of winning the tournament
The Indian cricket team selection will be an interesting one with Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh showing tremendous form for their respective franchises this season.
Hardik Pandya’s form with the ball has been a concern for Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma will look to select a balanced team that would help them to win the 2024 World Cup to be played in the USA and West Indies.
Indian team would play all their league matches in the USA. They would begin against Ireland on the 5th of June before they face arch-rivals Pakistan on the 9th. All their matches would be played in New York. The last two matches will be played against the USA and Canada.
