Nepal will look to create an impact with impressive performances against South Africa, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. They have named an experienced squad that would be looking to prove their worth against strong teams in their group.

Nepal would begin their journey against the Netherlands on 4th June at Dallas, followed by against Sri Lanka on 11th at Lauderhill. Their next match will be against South Africa on 14th June at St Vincent followed by Bangladesh at ST Vincent on 16th June.

Nepal would play their 2nd ICC T20 World Cup. They finished 2nd in the points table behind Bangladesh, but due to a low run rate, Nepal could not qualify for the next round of the World Cup. Nepal played a total of 3 matches in T20 World Cup history with 2 wins and 1 loss.

They could not qualify for the next round due to an inferior net run rate as compared to Bangladesh. Nepal qualified for this mega-event as one of the Asia qualifiers that took place from 30th October to 5th November 2023 in Nepal.

Strengths

Nepal has a strong batting unit that can create pressure on the bowling unit. They can hit big totals with explosive batters including Rohit Paudel, Kushal Malla, Kushal Bhurtel, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Aasif Sheikh who can smash the bowlers all over the park.

Dipendra Singh Airee is the leading run-getter for Nepal with 1626 runs from 64 matches (56 innings) including the best score of 110 not out. He scored 1 century and 9 half-centuries to his name. Nepal captain Rohit Paudel scored 1108 runs from 49 matches (47 innings) with 6 half-centuries to his name. Kushal Bhurtel also has a century to his name in the T20I format for Nepal.

Weakness

Nepal’s biggest weakness is its bowling. They lack genuine pacers who can trouble the batters which could lead to their defense. Karan KC, Gulshan Jha, and Sompal Kami lack quality. Sandeep Lammichhane would be missed big time as he can pick wickets.

Opportunities

Nepal would be looking to showcase its skills against Sri Lanka, Netherlands, South Africa, and Bangladesh. If they can win any one match with these teams, it would be an ideal thing to prove themselves on the biggest stage of the World Cup.

With nothing to lose, Nepal would look to create an impact with positive cricket and ensure that they do their best job. They will be playing against Lanka, Netherlands, South Africa, and Bangladesh which is a superior team to Nepal.

Threats

The major threat for Nepal in this tournament would be their bowling. Nepal needs to ensure that its bowling is strong enough to defend big totals against South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands.

With a strong batting unit, Nepal must be looking for quality bowlers who can bowl well in the first six overs and control the run flow in the death overs which would allow them to restrict the opponents.
