In a dramatic moment from the 52nd match of the T20 World Cup 2024, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan expressed his frustration after teammate Karim Janat denied him a 2nd run. The incident happened in the course of the very last over of Afghanistan’s first innings towards Bangladesh on the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St. Vincent, on June 25. The game had started with Afghanistan opting to bat first.

The incident that caught all people’s attention befell within the 20th over, bowled by Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Rashid Khan was given a leading facet, and because the ball trickled to the off facet, he and Janat sped off for a run. The International Cricket Council (ICC) highlighted this second on Instagram with the caption: “Karim Janat cops it from his skipper! The game itself noticed Afghanistan beginning cautiously. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 43 runs off 55 balls, whilst his partner Ibrahim Zadran contributed 18 runs off 29 balls. The scoring becomes slow because of a problematic wicket.

Azmatullah Omarzai controlled 10 runs, Gulbadin Naib added 4, and Rashid Khan remained now not out with a short 19 runs off 10 balls. Despite their efforts, Afghanistan published a modest overall of a hundred and fifteen runs. Bangladesh’s bowling overall performance was spearheaded by Rishad Hossain, who took three crucial wickets, significantly restricting Afghanistan’s progress. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman supported him nicely.

As the sport improved, Bangladesh wanted 116 runs to win, a goal that was regarded as viable given the situation and their bowling overall performance. The first innings saw Afghanistan battling against a disciplined Bangladesh bowling attack, but the moment between Rashid and Janat has become a focus, reflecting the intensity and stress of World Cup cricket.
