ICC T20 World Cup 2024: [WATCH]- Tanzim Sakib’s Brilliant Delivery Removes Tristian Stubbs For A Duck

Tanzim Hasan Sakib caused chaos while opening the bowling for Bangladesh against South Africa. In his third over, the pacer dismissed Tristian Stubbs for a five-ball duck, despite Stubbs having scored a valuable 33 in the previous game.

The setback for the Proteas occurred at 4.2 overs, with the score already at 23/3. Tanzim delivered a short-of-a-length ball to Stubbs in the 5th-6th stump channel outside off stump, executing a foolproof plan with Shakib Al Hasan positioned at short cover.

The 23-year-old hard-hitting batter fell into the trap, casually pushing the rising delivery towards Shakib, who successfully dived forward to catch the ball.

After Stubbs’ five-ball duck, South Africa is in recovery mode with Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller stabilizing the innings at 83/4 after 15 overs, while Bangladesh aims to capitalize on their strong start.

South Africa’s top order fails in New York for the third consecutive time

South Africa’s top order continued to falter in the 2024 T20 World Cup. In their third match, against Bangladesh, they lost their top four batters within the powerplay for just 23 runs. This marked the third collapse for South Africa’s top order in the tournament, following 12/4 against the Netherlands and 58/4 against Sri Lanka.

Choosing to bat on a tricky New York surface, South Africa struggled against Bangladesh’s fast bowlers, with Tanzim Sakib dominating in his initial 3-over spell, taking 3 wickets for just 13 runs.

South Africa was reduced to 23/4 in just 4.2 overs, losing Rezza Hendricks, Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, and Tristan Stubbs. Despite entering the T20 World Cup in good form, none of these batters have performed well in the tournament so far.

“We’ll bat first. Reason being it is a used wicket. If it does change, we can set the pace and it is tough to chase. We back ourselves for setting a good total. As a whole, the tournament has leaned towards teams batting first. It is about the last 10 overs in each innings, and chasing might be tougher,” South Africa captain Aiden Markram had said at the toss.
