The International Cricket Council (ICC) is making a serious attempt to encourage the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to host the Champions Trophy 2025 in a hybrid format. This development comes as the ICC seeks a feasible solution to the event’s logistical issues.
The ICC has informed the PCB via back channels that holding the eight-team event, which includes the Indian cricket team, may not be feasible. Given the complications involved, the ICC believes that the hybrid model is the most practicable solution.
The PCB is anticipated to give the suggestion significant thought, but it has not yet responded to the ICC’s proposal. In addition to considering the logistical and political difficulties involved, the PCB will want to make sure that the Champions Trophy 2025 is a prominent event that is organized effectively.
ICC urges PCB to stop making remarks regarding India:
From the information that has been relayed by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), it has been made clear that they shall not be bringing a team to compete in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. This has triggered a chain reaction once PCB had written the ICC and the chief of the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, had talked to the media on this issue.
Naqvi has urged the ICC to release the schedule as soon as possible and has also stressed the importance of Pakistan hosting the event. But it is important that remarks against India have offended the ICC, a fact that has made the body ask the PCB to desist from saying such things.
The schedule of Champions Trophy 2025 has not been released yet which has put the ICC in fix. The major challenge that has emerged here is the BCCI’s unwillingness to play their cricket series in Pakistan, while the PCB has wanted to host the event. The ICC will have to look for a formula that is best for all of them.
