New Zealand continued their winning run as they beat India by seven wickets at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch to enforce a clean sweep. As a result, they secured their third win in the ICC World Test Championship while the world No.1 Test team dropped points for the second time in a row.
The Kiwis once again produced a clinical effort with both bat and ball to pocket a convincing victory. Resuming the day at 90 for six, India managed only 34 runs in the morning session with Trent Boult and Tim Southee shedding fire at the Hagley Oval. They cleaned up the tail in no time before Tom Latham and Tom Blundell gave New Zealand a perfect start.

They ground their way to a 46-run stand at lunch but came out with far more attacking intent in the second session. Jasprit Bumrah managed to make some inroads picking a couple of New Zealand wickets but by that time they were almost home. Blundell chipped with 54 runs while Latham contributed 52 runs before Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls guided the Kiwis over the ropes.
New Zealand jump to the third place
With the win, the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand side leapfrogged Pakistan and England to take the third spot after taking all the 120 points in the series. Meanwhile, Australia occupy the second and the third spot with 296 while England and Pakistan toil in the fourth and fifth position in the ICC World Test Championship table with 146 and 140 points.
On the other hand, despite the drubbing, India continue to sit at the top of the points chart. They have acquired 360 points from nine games, 64 ahead of the second-placed Aussies.
