Former Indian batsman Ajay Jadeja has compared the Former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as Mercedes for his skills of finishing the innings and has also compared Manish Pandey who has been trying to fill Dhoni's shoes.
The Indian team clean swept New Zealand and became the first team to clean sweep a five-match T20 series. The Indian team also played extremely well in difficult cirucmstances as they made an excellent comeback in the difficult games in Hamilton and Wellington.
The Indian batting has shown signs of dangerous batting as everyone has batted extremely well including Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli, Kl Rahul and Manish Pandey who has helped India closing many games, in a terrific fashion.
Manish Pandey, batting at No. 6, emerged as the finisher for Kohli & Co. He scored an impressive 36-ball 50* in the 4th T20I and is yet to be dismissed in the shortest format since the West Indies tour, in August-September 2019.
As a result many cricketers heaped praise on the batsman who batted very well in the series. Zaheer Khan and Ajay Jadeja heaped praise on the Cricbuzz live show.
Zaheer said "Unhone situation ko bahut ache se samjha hai. Woh apne game ko bahut ache se samajh rahe hain. (He understands the match situations really well. He is also aware of his own strengths and weaknesses as of now.)."
Ajay Jadeja went a step ahead and said I have hardly seen him get out from the 18th over. If Dhoni is the Mercedes-version, he is the Alto-version. He might not have the same horsepower, but has the same playing style like Dhoni.
With good performance in the shortest format of the game, Pandey has given himself a good chance to play in the T20 World Cup in Australia.
