The former coach of team India Rahul Dravid joked that if the pay was hefty enough he could feature in his own story, stating so during the CEAT Cricket Awards held at Mumbai on August 21. The former captain of India was bestowed with the lifetime achievement award at CEAT cricket rating awards 2023-24.
Regarded as one of the top batsmen ever, Dravid had a successful (coaching career as well) during his time with the Indian cricket team. Under his guidance, this country won its first T20 World Cup in 2024. This came after losing the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2023 World Test Championship.
During the CEAT Prize-giving ceremony, his not-so-famous brand of humor surfaced during a Q& A session. On being asked about “who would play Rahul Dravid in a Biopic?” (the comments were reported by TOI), he replied playfully at 51 years old:
“If the money is good enough, I will play the role.”

In a remarkable international career spanning several years, he played in 164 Tests and 344 ODIs in total, accumulating a total of 13288 runs in Tests and 10889 runs in ODIs. Dravid made an impressive array of 48 tons during his time as an international cricketer. One T20I saw him manage to score 31 runs from just 21 balls at a strike rate of 147.61.
“Honestly, I did not want to do anything different” –Dravid on India’s Campaigns in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup
India has played in two World Cups recently and has only lost one match in them. They remained unbeaten throughout the 2023 ODI World Cup until succumbing to Australia in the final match. However, during the 2024 T20 World Cup, they did even better by winning every single game and becoming champions.
While commenting about India’s performance during these two ICC tournaments, Dravid said that their success could be attributed to proper planning and sound strategies.
“Honestly, I did not want to do anything different. We ran a fantastic campaign in the one-day World Cup. The common consensus among the team was that we needed to create the same energy, vibe, and team atmosphere that we had before, and then just hope for a bit of luck,” the former India coach went on to add in the same interaction.
