The Indian Team produced a dominating performance with innings and 132 runs over Australia on the 3rd day of the 1st Test match played at VCA Stadium, Nagpur on 11 February 2023. Indian captain Rohit Sharma was left furious over the DRS replay during the 2nd session of the 3rd day.
Peter Handscomb was given not out by the umpire but on review, it was overturned to out. Sharma looked frustrated at the broadcasters. R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja created an impact with match-winning efforts to skittle out Australia for just 91 runs in one session.
With this win, India strengthen their position to reach the ICC Championship finals to be played on 7 June 2023. The Indian bowlers especially the spinners created an impact with some brilliant performances as Ravindra Jadeja took 5 wickets while R Ashwin grabbed 3 wickets, and Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj got early breakthroughs in the first innings. India skittled out Australia for 177 runs in the first innings on the first day.

Rohit Sharma scored a century in the first Test
Rohit Sharma looked in prime touch putting pressure on the Australian bowlers. He and KL Rahul added 76 runs for the opening wicket laying a strong foundation for a big total. Rohit Sharma’s 120, Ravindra Jadeja 70, Axar Patel 84, and Mohammed Shami 37 helped India post a big total of 400 runs in the first innings with a massive lead of 223.
It was a dominating performance by the Men in Blue as they bundled out Australia for 91 runs in the 2nd innings. R Ashwin was the pick of bowlers for India with 5 wickets, Jadeja 2, Axar Patel 1, and Mohammed Shami 2.
Ravindra Jadeja was named the player of the match for his all-around performance with 7 wickets and 70 valuable runs helping Team India take advantage. India takes a 1-0 lead in the 4-match Test series. India looked in trouble at 240 for 7 as Jadeja and Axar Patel put on 88 runs for the 8th wicket. Shami and Axar Patel created enough pressure with 52 runs partnership for the 9th wicket.
India would be looking to continue their impressive performance as both of them will face each other in the 2nd Test match starting on 17 February at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.
