Ashwin’s partnership with Ravindra Jadeja helped rescue the Indian innings, taking the team to a respectable first-innings score. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud gave his team a strong start after captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to bowl.
Mahmud struck early, dismissing India’s captain by making him edge to second slip. He then removed Gill, Kohli, and Pant in quick succession, taking four wickets and leaving India in a difficult position before Ashwin and Jadeja helped steady the ship.
