Jasprit Bumrah played a key role in helping Team India register a 106-run victory over England in the 2nd Test match played at Vizag. He was at his lethal best with 6 for 45 in the first innings that put the England team on the backfoot. During the first innings, Bumrah dismissed Root, Pope, Bairstow, Hartley, Stokes, and Anderson to finish with figures of 6 for 45.
He proved his worth with 3 more wickets in the 2nd innings getting rid of Bairstow, Foakes, and Hartley. For his match-winning effort, Bumrah was named the player of the match award. Bumrah became the first Indian pace bowler to be at the top of the ICC Test bowlers rankings. He will play a key role for India in the 3rd Test match to be played at Rajkot from 15th February onwards.
“In the last Test match, Jasprit Bumrah was the standout player, he is a world-class player. Across all the formats, he is one of the best if not the best at the moment. It’s great to see fast bowling executed well especially in this condition,” Chris Woakes told ANI.
Jasprit Bumrah created a major milestone in the 2nd test match grabbing 150 Test wickets. He produced a stunning yorker to dismiss Ollie Pope which changed the momentum in favour of India. Bumrah showed his class on a good batting pitch. Indian team posted 396 runs in the first innings thanks to Jaiswal’s 209. Bumrah then created enough pressure on England’s batters and picked wickets regularly to help the Indian team take 143 runs in the first innings.
“When you’re going to play India, obviously India will be the favorites. Team England knows what they need to do to compete and they will see where the series is now, 1-1. The next match will be very important as it is the middle game of the series,” Chris Woakes added.
Jasprit Bumrah looks to create more impact in the 3rd Test
Bumrah would be hoping to create more impact in the 3rd Test to be played at Rajkot with his superb line and lengths. He has been a major threat for the England team in the first two test matches.
His ability to keep asking tough questions in batting conditions makes him a great bowler. If he could repeat the same performance during the 3rd Test match at Rajkot, then the Indian team has a chance of winning and taking a 2-1 lead in the series.
