The Indian Team has been given a major as the star Indian batter KL Rahul is set to return for the fourth Test match against England to be played at JSCA Stadium, Ranchi from 23rd February onwards. KL Rahul suffered an injury during the first Test match at Hyderabad. He was ruled out of the second Test match at Vizag as Rajat Patidar replaced him.
Rahul was 90 percent fit but he went to National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru, and would feature in the playing XI for the 4th test match at Ranchi. He is likely to come in the middle order which would be a big boost for the Indian team ahead of the 4th test match. India has taken a 2-1 lead in the 5-match Test series after thrashing 434 runs victory over England on the 4th day of the 3rd test match at Rajkot.
Rajat Patidar was included in playing for the test matches in Vizag and Rajkot. He scored 32 runs in the first innings at Vizag but failed to score big runs in the second innings at Vizag. His performance was not great in the third test match at Rajkot.
KL Rahul would be a major boost for the Indian team as Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested for the fourth test match keeping in workload management. KL Rahul scored 86 and 22 in the first test match at Hyderabad as India lost the match by 28 runs.
India’s performance in the third test
The Indian Cricket Team dominated England in the 3rd test, winning by 434 runs. Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat. The hosts looked in some trouble with the top 3 quick wickets including Jaiswal, Gill, and Patidar. Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja put on 204 runs partnership for the 4th wicket laying the foundation for a decent total.
Sarfaraz Khan made a quick-fire 62 in the first innings. Ravindra Jadeja scored well made 112 runs and contributions from Ashwin and debutant Jurel helped India post 445. England looked in complete control with the scoreboard reading 207 for 2 and without the services of Ashwin.
Indian bowlers made a strong comeback to bowl out England for 319 runs in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal proved his domination with a brilliant double century along with Gill 91 and Sarfaraz Khan 68 helped India set a daunting target of 557. Ravindra Jadeja was the star of the show grabbing 5 wickets to bowl out England for 122.
