The Indian Cricket Team is currently at 225 for 3 at the end of the tea break on the first day of the 2nd Test match played at Vizag on 2nd February 2024. James Anderson got rid of Shubman Gill with a lovely delivery caught by Ben Foakes. It was the fifth time that Anderson dismissed Gill in Test matches.
He got rid of Gill in the previous Test tour of India in the first test match at Chennai. Gill looked impressive against the spinners coming down the track and putting pressure on the inexperienced England bowling lineup.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. It was a cautious start by Jaiswal and Rohit before Jaiswal showed intent. The debutant Shoaib Bashir got the breakthrough dismissing Rohit with a sharp catch by Pope at leg slip. Shubman Gill came to the crease and made batting look comfortable.
Yashavi Jaiswal and Gill kept the scoreboard ticking before Anderson produced a stunning delivery to dismiss Gill. Jaiswal and Gill added 49 runs for the 2nd wicket. Jaiswal completed fifty off 89 balls. India went into lunch break at 103 for 2. After the lunch break, Jaiswal showed intent putting the England bowlers under pressure and keeping the scoreboard ticking. Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer did not allow them to settle.
Tom Hartley got the big wicket of Shreyas Iyer with a lovely catch by Foakes. Iyer and Jaiswal added 90 runs for the 3rd wicket. Jaiswal showed his class with some lovely shots and completed century with a six coming down. Rajat Patidar’s making debut looked edgy in the initial stages before playing some good shots. Jaiswal made the batting look easy as he is still at the crease on 125 while Patidar is on 25.
Shubman Gill looked impressive
Shubman Gill looked impressive in today’s innings keeping the strike rotating and also hitting boundaries that kept the scoreboard ticking. James Anderson made a comeback into the playing XI in today’s encounter bowled a good spell against Rohit Sharma and Co.
Anderson showed his class after 2 lucky boundaries to dismiss Gill ending 49 runs partnership. Rohit and Jaiswal added 40 runs for the opening wicket.
