KL Rahul, the middle-order batsman for Team India, has started net practice in preparation for the third Test against England. His absence in the second Test was due to fitness concerns, and post the first Test in Hyderabad, Rahul addressed these issues at the NCA. He has been included in the Indian squad for the remaining three Tests in the five-match series against England, as announced by the selectors on Saturday.
The wicketkeeper-batsman is set to rejoin the playing XI in the third Test pending clearance from the BCCI medical team. Positive signs emerge as Rahul resumes training in the nets. The team management aims to include him soon, addressing the lack of experience in the middle order, primarily caused by Virat Kohli’s absence.
On Sunday, KL Rahul posted a video of his recent batting practice on his Instagram story, offering fans a sneak peek. Subsequently, a cricket enthusiast reshared the video on another platform, X.

“Batting down the order might not be bad at all”-Irfan Pathan discusses the likelihood of KL Rahul batting in the middle order for LSG in the IPL 2024
Former Indian bowling all-rounder Irfan Pathan recently suggested that Lucknow Super Giants would gain an advantage if their captain, KL Rahul, bats in the middle-order in IPL 2024. Rahul has showcased remarkable performances in ODIs and Tests since transitioning from an opening position to the middle order.
Amid speculation that he might adopt a similar approach in T20s to strengthen his case for selection in the Indian squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, Pathan shared his perspective during a discussion on Star Sports, stating:
“He is a car with gears in an era of automatic cars. He can bat in any gear from first to fifth. He even has a sixth gear. So considering that, KL Rahul batting down the order might not be bad at all. It could be good for the team and him as well. The team combination could include both Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers in such a scenario. If both of them get a place, they can go with an all-Indian pace attack.”
