Sarfaraz Khan debut for his country ended in disappointment when he was removed for a duck at his home ground in Mumbai. Ajaz Patel, a left-arm spinner, hit a delivery that the 27-year-old middle-order batsman could not play and failed to react.

At number eight in the second session, Sarfaraz took Ravindra Jadeja’s place at bat. But he was not long at the crease. The delivery from Ajaz Patel was too brilliant, as Sarfaraz slipped the ball into wicketkeeper Tom Blundell’s palms. Sarfaraz had a dismal start to his international career with the four-ball duck.

In the stands, Sarfaraz’s family was clearly impacted by the decision. As Sarfaraz completed the arduous trek back to the pavilion, his brother Musheer and father Naushad appeared in disbelief. Sarfaraz’s perseverance and domestic cricket record indicate that he could still have a big series effect despite the loss.

In his debut international game at his home stadium in Mumbai, Sarfaraz Khan was regrettably dismissed for a duck. The middle-order batsman, 27, had no responses after left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel hit him with a nearly unplayable delivery.

As Sarfaraz attempted to defend, the ball spun and rebounded after pitching. On the way to wicketkeeper Tom Blundell, however, the ball nipped his glove. Sarfaraz was removed for a fourth-ball duck, and the umpire didn’t think twice about giving him the finger.

Sarfaraz Khan’s brother Musheer Khan and father Naushad Khan also attended the game. However, they were disappointed by the dismissal. Sarfaraz was dismissed without scoring a run, despite having a stellar record at Wankhede Stadium.

Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets in the second inning as New Zealand fell to 171/9 at Stumps on Day 2, with a 143-run lead. Ravichandran Ashwin contributed three wickets, while Washington Sundar and Akash Deep each took one.

Shubman Gill’s 90, Rishabh Pant’s 60, and Washington Sundar’s 38-run cameo helped India reach 263, giving them a first-inning lead in the Test series. Akash Deep dismissed NZ captain Tom Latham in the first over.
