The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is in progress. On Wednesday, the 9th of October, the twelfth match will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai: India Women (IND-W) against Sri Lanka Women (SL-W)—two leaders of the Asian Subcontinent teams.
The Indian team’s worst possible start in the Cup came against New Zealand, where it was beaten by 58 runs in the first match of the tournament. However, they got off the hook and won by six wickets after taking 18.5 overs to chase 106 from the Pakistan innings. Since they are like hi-wire trapeze artists on an eminence, India cannot afford an error when competing against Sri Lanka.
In the meantime, Sri Lanka is down to the worst team in Group A after an embarrassing defeat by Australia by six wickets and by Pakistan by 31 runs. Those would like them to establish power by likely defeating the neighboring communities.
Sri Lanka will be confidently boosted in this event after beating India in the recent Women’s Asia Cup final match held earlier this year. Despite the fact that it seems hard at the moment to make it to the main event, Chamari Athapaththu and company would like to play good cricket.
IND-W vs SL-W head-to-head record:
Matches Played | 25 |
Won by India Women | 19 |
Won by Sri Lanka Women | 05 |
No Result | 01 |
Who will win the match?
Based on this, there are prospects that the match between Sri Lanka Women and India Women is going to be a very close-knit affair. However, it is clear that India women have a slimmer advantage when the player skill and the relationships between them are taken into consideration.
What is also comforting for Indians is that their batting line-up includes Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, and, of course, Harmanpreet Kaur. Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma were leading the bowling attack and could check Sri Lanka’s scoring might.
Despite recently lifting the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka would be hard-pressed to have serious rivals against India’s successful team. But there is certain danger in Chamari Athapaththu and Kavisha Dilhari. But all around, strength and experience may prove a decisive factor for the Indian women cricket team.
