Team India will face an uphill task when they tour Australia later this year for a four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series. They will take on the daunting Aussies at the Gabba where they haven’t lost a match since 1998 to begin their $300 million tour.
The expectations will be high on the Indian team when they tour down under later this year. Incidentally, Virat Kohli & Co registered their first-ever series win when they toured Australia last time in 2018-19. They defeated the home side 2-1 to create history who were without the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner.
Cricket Australia announce Test venues for India series
The ICC World Test Championship‘s table-toppers will hope to achieve a similar feat when they tour this summer. While there were many speculations going around on the future of the series, the dark clouds have finally passed. Cricket Australia (CA) has finally zeroed in Gabba as the venue for the first Test.
Following the opening match of the four-Test series starting from December 3, India will then attempt to end Australia’s unbeaten record in Adelaide day-night Tests. Adelaide will host the only day-night Test of the tour ahead of Perth. Meanwhile, Melbourne and Sydney will host the traditional Boxing Day and New Year Tests.
Meanwhile, there were speculations that Indian squad might have to stay in a 14-day quarantine period soon after they land in Australia. But with the situation easing slowly, the series looks certain to go ahead without the need for a quarantine hub.
India; however, will play no matches in Perth where they lost the time they toured Australia two years back. In a year, which has witnessed very little cricket, all eyes will be on this high-profile series which can set the tone for the ICC World Test Championship.
