India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of India’s T20I series against Ireland with a quadriceps injury, a setback that could also put a hold on his participation in the upcoming white-ball series against England, according to BCCI sources.

However, he had been selected in both the ODI and T20I squads for the UK tour as India’s seam-bowling all-rounder, with Hardik Pandya continuing to be left out as well.

Reddy played two ODIs in the recently concluded home series against Afghanistan, picking up his maiden wickets in the format in Dharamsala. He then missed the second ODI in Lucknow, with captain Shubman Gill saying at the toss that the all-rounder was dealing with “some issues with his quad”.

However, Reddy returned for the final ODI in Chennai, bowling six wicketless overs for 42 runs and was not required to bat as well.

Nitish Kumar Reddy didn’t bowl much in the IPL 2026

However, this injury is the latest in a string of fitness setbacks he had faced that have hampered Reddy’s progress over the past year. Concerns over his fitness were limited to his bowling during IPL 2025, when he bowled only five overs across 13 matches. He was later ruled out midway through Team India’s Test tour of England due to a knee injury as well.

During the recent IPL 2026, SRH bowling coach James Franklin spoke about Nitish Kumar Reddy’s efforts to improve his fitness, noting that he had increased both his bowling workload and pace. This latest injury, meanwhile, came at an unfortunate time, just as he hoped to build momentum and increase his workloads.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, however, is expected to report to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, where further assessments will determine the extent of his injury and provide clarity on his recovery timeline as well.
