The Indian Cricket Team dethroned Australia to become the number 1 ranked Test side after winning the fifth test match against England played at Dharmshala on 9th March 2024.
It was a superb performance by the Indian team as they registered a dominating innings and 64 runs victory at Dharmshala to seal the series at 4-1. Indian team suffered a shocking loss in the first test match at Hyderabad before making a strong comeback to win at Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi to win the series at 3-1.
Indian team showed their domination in the fifth test at Dharmshala. Kuldeep Yadav and R Ashwin wreaked havoc picking 9 wickets to bowl England for 218 in their first innings. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored centuries along with half-centuries by Sarfaraz Khan, and Devdutt Paddikal that helped India post 477 runs taking a big lead.
The second innings saw Indian bowlers creating havoc as R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja took wickets to bowl out England for 195 to win by an innings and 64 runs.
It was a brilliant performance as the likes of Sarfaraz Khan, Paddikal, Rajat Patidar, and Akash Deep made their debuts. KL Rahul played the first test match before not featuring in the remaining four test matches.
Indian team is currently at the number 1 spot in the 2023-25 ICC World Test championship points table. They will now play test series at home against New Zealand and Bangladesh this year and hope to consolidate their position at the top spot.
Indian team registered a dominating 106-run victory in the 2nd test match at Vizag thanks to Bumrah, Jaiswal, and Gill’s knock that helped them to make a comeback. Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja scored centuries while Sarfaraz made a half-century on his debut that helped India post 445 runs.
The Indian Cricket Team currently holds the number 1 rank in One-day internationals and also the top spot in shorter formats.
