India fast bowler Varun Aaron signed a deal with the County Team for 2018 season

Discarded Indian pacer Varun Aaron has decided to join Leicestershire in the early part of county season 2018. He was unsold in the IPL 2018 auction and would replace Mohammad Abbas who will for Pakistan Cricket team during tours of Ireland, England, and Scotland.

The Indian pace bowler made his test debut in 2011 against West Indies. Since making his debut, he played his last test match against South Africa in 2015. He has been not been given a chance to play for Indian test. With top pacers in the current Indian test team including Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, the discarded pace bowler played only 7 test matches and taken 14 wickets.

Varun Aaron played only 9 ODI’s for team India since his debut in 2011 against England and last match for Men in Blue was against Sri Lanka in 2014. In his 9 ODI matches, the pace bowler took only 8 wickets.

Varun Aaron after signing the deal with the county said: “I am relishing the opportunity to join the Foxes for the first part of the season,”. “Playing county cricket presents me with a great opportunity to showcase my skills. I”m looking forward to taking wickets and contributing to the success of the team.”

He has been in and out of the team due to injuries. Aaron also played in the Indian Premier League for Kolkata Knight Riders from 2008-2010, Delhi Daredevils from 2011-2013, Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2014-2016.

In his IPL career, Varun Aaron played 42 matches and took 38 wickets with an economy of 8.66 runs per over. His best season was in 2014 where he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, taking 16 wickets in 10 matches with an economy of 8.15.

Varun Aaron will be trying to improve his skills and also get back in contention for the Indian team.
