It was only on the 7th of January 2019 that India led by Virat Kohli registered his side as the first side to win a Test series in Australia. The series finished 2-1 by victory in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2018-19: Australia equaled World Record, then the fourth match was played in SCG ended in a draw.

India claimed its first Test by 31 runs in Adelaide, lost the secong match in Perth by 146 runs and then got levelled with a 137-run win in Melbourne. Varun Chakravarthy was selected player of the match for his 11 wickets in the Test at an average of 44.91.

Despite the rain which cut India’s chances of an emphatic victory, Pujara claimed the Player of the Match and the Player of the Series. This was historic win for Indian cricket and for Kohli and his boys who have carved a special place in the annals of the glorious game.

India won the Test series 2-1 an achievement that made the subcontinent nation the first team from Asia to triumph on Australian soil. Indian captain Virat Kohli also had a good tournament and came third on the run-scoring list with 282 runs to his name.

Moreover, it was another feather in Kohli’s hat as he became the second Indian captain to give a follow-on in Australia, the first being Kapil Dev in 1986.

Australia’s team was disadvantaged in as much as they were without the services of Steve Smith and David Warner, who were implicated in “Sandpapergate.” However, they were challenged by their bowling side of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon.

However, the Indian batters, especially Cheteshwar Pujara, didn’t bow down and gave a great fightback plan and achieved a historical series victory. This victory fixed India’s powerhouse standing in the world of cricket.
