Team India have been set back by injuries to their Test regulars ahead of the final game in Brisbane. They are almost playing with a second-string side after all their regular bowlers are sidelined with injuries. Meanwhile, former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist has said that the team needs to work out why there have been so many injuries to their players on this tour. Navdeep Saini who is a part of the playing XI for the final Test is the latest to join the list after pulling up his hamstring on the first day of the Test match.
Talking to Fox Sports he said that India need to find out why there have been so many injuries on this particular tour.
“It’s just been extraordinary the adversity they have faced on this tour. They’ll need to work out why there have been so many injuries” said Gilchrist.
He further said that a few of their injuries have been due to the Australian bowlers bowling at their body.
“A few have been inflicted by the Australian pace attack, but the soft tissue injuries? they’ll need to assess why they came about and whether it was something in or out of their control,” Gilchrist added.
Team India’s latest casualty Navdeep Saini was forced to walk off the field on Friday after puling up his groin. He looked in pain and was walked off the field with Team India physio Nitin Patel.
Adam Gilchrist Praises Indian Bowlers
Adam Gilchrist further praised the exhibition of the show by the Indian bowlers on Day 1. Australia scored 369 in their first innings at The Gabb. India meanwhile are battling hard in their quest of getting close to the Australian first innings total.
“But you can’t question their resilience and their willingness to stay in the fight and not lie down,” the 49-year-old said. There have been plenty of talented touring teams across all nations that have been here and succumbed to Test cricket in this country. It’s amazing that they’ve got to the Gabba well and truly in the series with a chance to win it.”
