Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra scripts history by winning a Gold medal in the Javelin throw event at Tokyo Olympics 2020. He ended India’s long wait to win a medal in the track and field event.
Neeraj outperformed the other athletes by quite a distance to top the tally. He threw 87.03 in his first throw and then bettered it up by registering an 87.58m throw in his second attempt in the finals. This is India’s seventh medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020 – One Gold, Two Silvers, and Four Bronze Medals. This has also been India’s most successful contingent in the Olympics. Neeraj Chopra became the second Indian to win Gold in an individual event at Olympics. Abhinav Bindra won GOLD at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in 10m air rifle.
