Indian Cricketers Provide Financial Help To Help Late Sports Journalist Ruchir Mishra’s Family

Senior sports journalist Ruchir Mishra passed away on May 4 after battling with COVID-19 complications. He thus joins millions of others who have lost their lives to the dreaded virus in India. The death rate due to COVID in the country is increasing every day in the country. Several eminent personalities in the country have fallen prey to the virus and lost their lives. 

Meanwhile, Indian cricketers Ravichandran Ashwin, Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav have helped Mishra’s family with financial help in these tough times. Known for his utmost dedication towards his job, Ruchir has covered many domestic matches and was even popular among many cricketers. 

As per a fundraising website named Ketto,Ruchir Mishra’s family have been helped with notable contributions. As per the website, veteran fast bowler Umesh Yadav has donated one lakh INR, while his teammate Cheteshwar Pujara contributed INR 50,000. India women’s team coach Ramesh Powar also helped with INR 50,000. Star Ravichandran Ashwin also made his contribution, and he even urged his fans to help Ruchir’s family.

Indian Cricketers Contribute To Aid Ruchir Mishra’s Family

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team have shifted their focus on the World Test Championship final after the IPL 2021 was suspended. The Test squad is currently quarantining in Mumbai and will fly to the UK on June 2. 

Meanwhile, the BCCI is trying their best to complete the remaining IPL in September later this year. Only 29 of the 60 scheduled games took place till the season suspension. The BCCI is looking at multiple venues to complete the remaining season. The UK, UAE and Sri Lanka are the most viable options at the moment. 

However, the IPL CEO Hemang Amin has thrown his weight behind UAE as his choice for the remaining IPL. The IPL 2020 was hosted by the BCCI at the same venue and it went on smoothly. 

While Amin now has two schedules ready as choices to present in the run-up to the SGM, TOI understands that the interim CEO has asked the Board to keep UAE as the preferred option. And for that, he is learnt to have shared some “very logical reasons”.
