India women cricket team will return to action after a long haul due to coronavirus pandemic when they face South Africa women cricket team in a series of ODI and T20I fixtures to be hosted in Thiruvananthapuram in March.
Meanwhile, BCCI came under the scanner for not planning about women’s cricket while the men’s team resumed international tours after the coronavirus pandemic. And now, the Sourav Ganguly-led board is all set to host South Africa for a white-ball series.
India women’s team to host South Africa in Kerala
Mithali Raj & Co last played against Australia in the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia in front of 80,000 plus fans in Melbourne. As per reports of Times of India, both the teams will play a series of 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is, which will all be played at the Sports hub and are expected to be played from March 7 onwards.

The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) office-bearers and BCCI joint-secretary Jayesh Geroge had a meeting with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan last week to get permission to host the matches in the state.
“The government has agreed to let us host matches at the Sports Hub in a bio-secure environment. The Sports Hub has been used as a Covid first-line treatment center till now. We will now have to sanitize the whole venue and make other necessary arrangements. The pitches and the ground have been maintained well despite the Covid situation. So that won’t be a concern,” Sajan Varghese, KCA president, told TOI.
Meanwhile, both India and South African cricketers will be in quarantine and will undergo COVID-19 tests while the matches will take place in bio-bubble.

“We will be needing nearly 100 rooms to accommodate the players, support staff, match officials, telecast crew, etc for the duration of the tour. They are likely to be put up in one of the hotels in Kovalam,” said Sajan.
