Indian Women”s Team Finish The Tri-Series On A Winning Note

Indian women finish the tri-series on a winning note by beating England in the last league match at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai just a few minutes ago. England captain Heather Knight won the toss and elected to bat first. The Indian bowlers did a great job and bowled out England for just 107 runs. Smriti Mandhana continued her brilliant form remaining not out, helping Indian women to win the match by 8 wickets.

Danielle Wyatt and Jones started the innings on a good note putting on 24 runs in 3.2 overs before Jones was dismissed by Vastrkar. Wyatt played with aggressive intent putting pressure on the Indian bowlers. At the end of first 6 overs, England women posted 54 for 1.

After the first six overs, Wyatt was caught by Deepti Sharma for 31 runs. The Indian spinners bowled consistent line and length not allowing the England batters to score runs. England women were bowled out for 107 in 18.5 overs. Anuja Patil took 3 wickets while Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav, and Deepti Sharma took 2 wickets each.

Chasing 108 runs, Smriti Mandhana continued her brilliant form and attacked the England bowlers. Mithali Raj was dismissed in the 4th over. Before the end of first 6 overs, Rodrigues was dismissed. At the end of 6 overs, Indian women posted 49 for 2.

After the powerplay overs, Mandhana played with positive intent and reached her half-century off 35 balls. Indian women reached their target in 15.4 overs. It will be a good confidence booster for team India going ahead of ODI Series against England starting from 6th April.
