Team India will increase their astounding streak within the T20 World Cup 2024 as they face England in the 2nd semi-final on Thursday, June 27 at Providence Stadium in Guyana. The match is set to be a noticeably predicted clash among  top white-ball groups. However, ahead of the match, there are literal dark clouds hanging over the game due to heavy rain forecasted.

According to weather.com, there’s a significant 60% chance of rain throughout the match day. The game kicks off at 10:30 am local time (8:00 PM IST), with rain probabilities peaking at 58% by noon in Guyana, which could lead to interruptions.

The forecast remains unfavorable until 3:00 PM local time, reducing the chances of completing the fixture. To ensure the match’s completion, the ICC (International Cricket Council) has allocated an additional 250 minutes for both semi-finals. This extra time allows ground staff ample opportunity to prepare the field if weather conditions permit.

What will be the outcome if the match is rained out?

If the game is washed out, the group that finished higher in their Super 8 group will boost to the final, as per clause 16.10.7 of the ICC’s playing conditions for the T20 World Cup 2024. Therefore, India is poised to development to the final if the match is washed out, having topped Super eight Group 1 by way of winning all their matches

On the contrary, England secured the second position with two wins out of three games. Nonetheless, fans would prefer to see a full 40-over contest between these two prominent white-ball teams in contemporary cricket.

“If a Semi-Final is tied, the teams shall compete in a Super Over to determine which team progresses to the Final. Refer to clause 16.3.1.2 and Appendix F.”

“If following a tie, weather conditions prevent the Super Over from being completed, or if the match is abandoned or a no result, then the team that finished first in its Second Round Group will progress to the Final,” states the ICC’s Playing conditions for the tournament.
