Gowtham”s blitz helps Rajasthan Royals secure their third victory of the season by three wickets against Mumbai Indians.
Opting to bat first, Mumbai Indians faced a huge blow as their explosive opener Lewis was dismissed without disturbing the scorecard. The 129 run partnership between Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav ensured Mumbai towards a high total.
A horrible middle order failure and Pollard”s run a ball 20 wasn”t enough to post a huge total as Mumbai made only 37 runs in last six overs.
Jofra Archer was the star with the ball and took three scalps in his debut. He ended with figures of 4-0-22-3 and this is the third best spell for Rajasthan player on his debut. His 145+ kmph deliveries and toe-crushing Yorkers made the difference in the game.
Rahane and Tripathi were back to their business by opening the innings. Rahul failed miserably as he was cheaply dismissed for 9 runs. Their star batsman Sanju Samson joined hands with Stokes for 72 run partnership and anchored the innings. Heinrich Klassen and Jos Buttler weren”t able to utilize their opportunities to the fullest as they were dismissed for single digits.
Archer and Gowtham handle the pressure and bought the match to the situation where 10 needs to be scored off the last over. Krishnappa Gowtham hit 33 off 11 deliveries a Dinesh Karthik-esque innings and ensured his side a victory.
This is how Twitter reacted to this match:
It takes one knock or a bowling spell for a hardworking athlete to become an overnight hero/household name. That's #IPL for you. This league has created stars who today have a fan following. Quite literally when preparation meets opportunity, IPL gives birth to a STAR

— Ian Raphael Bishop (@irbishi) April 22, 2018
i know Jofra Archer turned the game with his bowling and changed a 190 chase to 168. But the game was still lost when Gowtham came in. 0-20 from 3 overs and 33 (11) made him my man of the match.

Krishnappa Gowtham
– Nicknamed 'Bhajji' as he used to bowl like Harbhajan Singh during his younger days
– Was part of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2017
– Bought by @rajasthanroyals for 6.2 and he pulled off an incredible heist
