New Zealand fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan has been announced as the replacement of the injured Jason Behrendorff in Mumbai Indians team for the upcoming IPL 2018.
McClenaghan who would be returning for the fourth consecutive season for the Mumbai Indians has been a consistent performer for them off late. It was a big surprise when he was initially ignored by IPL franchisees despite his decent outings for MI. The Kiwi seamer will return to Indian squad after the IPL Technical Committee approved him as a replacement for Jason Beherendoff.
“Mr. Behrendorff is suffering from a back problem and has been ruled out of the IPL 2018. In accordance with the Player Regulations, the Mumbai Indians were allowed to choose a replacement from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP),” the release said.
McClenaghan was picked by Mumbai at his base price of Rs 1 crore. Mumbai Indians will begin their title defense against Chennai Super Kings in the opening game on April 7.
