DD captain Sheryas Iyer said: Very disappointed to be on the losing side. 163 runs on this pitch was a decent total. It was a difficult pitch to bat on. Ten extra runs would have been useful. Dropping catches did not help the cause.

SRH captain Kane Williamson said: In today’s match the new ball was very important. Both teams used the new ball well. We came strongly to restrict them to a below-par total. The first 6 overs were important as Alex Hales and Dhawan gave us a great start. Yusuf Pathan is an experienced player and did a great job with the bat to give us.

Man of the match Rashid Khan said: Great to perform well and contribute to the team success. I had two bad matches in this tournament. My basic strength is to bowl quick arm action which the batsmen cannot pick. The way Hyderabad people giving support is incredible.

In tomorrow’s matches, Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Mumbai Indians in the first match at Wankedhe Stadium, Mumbai. In the second match, Kings XI Punjab will face Rajasthan Royals at Holkar Stadium, Indore.
