The Universe Boss hit the first century in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League. Gayle reached his sixth IPL hundred in 58 balls and Kings XI Punjab are inching towards a good total.This T20 century is Gayle”s 21st one across all leagues in the world. Gayle hit six sixes off Rashid”s spell as the young spinner registered his expensive figures in IPL.
Winning the toss Ashwin, captain of Punjab surprised everyone as he chose to bat first. This is the first instance in this edition of IPL when a skipper opted to bat first after winning the toss.
Gayle ended up with a score of 104* on 63 deliveries as Punjab ended their innings with 193/3.
His innings included 11 huge sixes and a single boundary. Karun Nair played a good cameo with Gayle as he scored a quickfire 31 runs. Gayle dedicated this century to his daughter with his trademark “cradle” celebration
In his interview with Kevin Pietersen after his innings, Chris Gayle mentioned: ” I dedicate this knock to my daughter Kris Allyna Gayle who will be turning two tomorrow and my wife Natasha”.
