The 12th edition of Indian Premier League, the cricket festival in India begun today. Chennai Super Kings started their title defence with a win by seven wickets as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore with ease.
There was a lot of hype for the game as the defending champions Chennai Super Kings hosted Kohli”s Royal Challengers. However, the Royals who looked so strong on paper couldn”t replicate the same on the field. They danced to the tunes of Chennai”s spinners crumbling for a paltry 70 runs on the board.
Though Kohli said that they have invested
sometime on a building a balanced XI, the depth in the batting line-up couldn”t
help them reach a respectable total. Harbhajan and Tahir bowled out of their
hearts bagging three wickets each. Deepak Chahar, the primary bowler of the
side lived upto the expectations of his skipper as he yet again delivered a
frugal spell.
AB de villiers, Kohli and Hetmyer weren”t
able to provide a good stand with their opener Parthiv Patel who remained as
the only player to register a double digit score on the board.
The bowling line-up of Royal Challengers
Bangalore did their best to stretch the game till 17th over by registering
economic spells.
The social media couldn”t just stop
trolling the performance of Royal Challengers Bangalore as they put up another
dismal show. It is to be noted that the side hadn”t enjoyed a great season
after their good stint in 2016 edition.
This is how it responded to the poor show of Royal Challengers Bangalore batsmen.
