IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings Depart For Dubai

The Chennai Super Kings, on Friday, left for the United Arab Emirates to play the second phase of the Indian Premier League 2021. The tournament is all set to resume from September 19, 2021.

The official Twitter handle of the Chennai Super Kings posted a few pictures of the team before boarding the flight to UAE. They wrote:

All the available Indian players playing for the Chennai Super Kings have departed for UAE, while the overseas players will join them soon. The Chennai Super Kings are the first team to leave for UAE. They did not host a training camp in Chennai and will direct begin their preparations in Dubai after completing the mandatory quarantine rules.

Earlier this year, the Indian Premier League 2021 was suspended due to the covid-19 virus outbreak in the team’s biosecure bubbles. The tournament was decided to shift to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) given the prevalent pandemic situation in India.

 

Chennai Super Kings placed second on the points table

The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will lock horns against the Mumbai Indians in the very first match after resumption on September 19 at the Dubai International Stadium. In the first match, between these two teams this season, Mumbai Indians emerged as winners in a thrilling encounter. They chased down 219 runs on the last ball, on the back of Kieron Pollard’s 87 runs knock.

Chennai Super Kings are second on the points table. They have won five out of their seven matches this season. They also have a great Net Run Rate of +1.263 and are one of the favorites to win the championship. The three-time Champions will be keen to add one more IPL trophy to their cabinet.
