The England players will be available for the UAE leg of IPL 2021 with their tour to Bangladesh postponed. A report in the UK edition of the Telegraph conformed that the ECB is willing to postpone the Bangladesh tour which has now opened up opportunities for the England players to be available for the remaining season. The report further said that England’s tour to Bangladesh was clashing with the second half of the IPL 2021 which forced the board to rethink their strategy and postpone the tour for now.
England Players Available For IPL 2021 Second Half
Playing in the IPL could also prove hectic for the England players with the T20 World Cup and the Ashes series to follow. Thus there is some thinking for the England players in that respect a well. Earlier the ECB had said that it will not allow its players from playing the remaining season keeping in mind their international commitments. However, with the Bangladesh tour now postponed, the England players would like to use the UAE leg of IPL 2021 to fine-tune their preparations for T20 World Cup which will be played at the same venue as well.
The T20 World Cup begins on October 17. The start of the Super 12s – when England enter the tournament – is expected to be on October 24. Meanwhile, ahead of the T20 World Cup, England will tour Pakistan for a two-game T20I series, on October 14 and 15 which is expected to be their final dress-rehearsal before the T20 World Cup.
A final call on England’s postponed tour to Bangladesh will be taken by the Bangladesh Cricket Board in due course. England are placed alongside, Australia West Indies and South Africa in group A. They kickstart the Super 12 stage facing Australia in the first game.
