Eoin Morgan-led KKR side has made it to the second qualifier by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator. Meanwhile, Andre Russell has missed his fifth straight game for Kolkata ever since injuring his hamstring against CSK. Shakib Al Hasan who replaced him in the XI has delivered consistent performances in the XI and has played his part in the team’s success.
Meanwhile, Eoin Morgan has provided an update on Andre Russell’s fitness at the post-match press conference. When asked if he will be available for the second qualifier against Delhi Capitals, Morgan said:
“Andre has a Grade 2 hamstring tear, and it’s only been a couple of weeks since that injury. He has worked incredibly hard with our medical team with intensive rehabilitation to try and get himself back on the park”.
Call On Andre Russell Will Be Made Soon: Eoin Morgan
Morgan further said that a call on Russell will be made soon as they are lined up to play the second qualifier on Wednesday.
“We only have 48 hours before the next game. So we’ll have to take that decision (on whether he is fit to play) based on how he presents himself tomorrow (Tuesday) and the next day” Morgan added.
The KKR skipper further spoke about his team’s turnaround in the UAE leg. After winning just two games in India, the Knights have won six out of their eight games so far in the UAE leg.

“In the first phase of the tournament, we were still trying to implement Buzz’s (Brendon McCullum) mantra of trying to play positive, aggressive cricket. Throughout this second phase, people have turned up with a different motivation and drive.”
“Our bowlers have shown us the way – how to be aggressive with the ball in trying to take wickets and identifying when to hold back and be a little bit more defensive. That’s led the way with our batting as well” Morgan concluded.
