Ishan Kishan roared back to form against Rajasthan Royals and in the process eliminated them out of IPL 2021 playoff race. Mumbai Indians beat the Royals by 8 wickets and went upto 12 points. They are on level terms with KKR on 12 points as well vying for the fourth spot. In the first three games of the UAE leg, the Jharkhand batsman registered lowly scores of 11, 14, and 9.
The management then decided to give him a break seeing his poor form. However, he returned to form in his comeback game for Mumbai. On a two-paced wicket where the Royals batsmen failed to get going, Kishan scored 50 off just 25 balls hitting five fours and three sixes. Mumbai won the game inside nine overs but yet could not better their net run-rate than KKR.
After the game, Ishan Kishan spoke about how he dealt with his failures before producing the comeback knock.
Felt Nice To Get Runs Again: Ishan Kishan
“It’s nice to be back opening and getting runs for the team and helping win by a big margin. Feeling really good, was much needed for our team to get momentum. It was good to field first, got a good idea of the surface. Our plan was to play as straight as possible. Just play in the V was the plan and the batsmen executed really well,” stated Kishan.
“I had a chat with Virat bhai, Hardik bhai.. everyone was there to support me. Had a chat with KP (Pollard) who said you just need to keep things simple, bat the way you used to do, just watch the videos of what you did in the last season. I watched a few videos of my batting and that gave me a bit of confidence.”
KKR and Mumbai India are the two teams fighting for the fourth spot in the playoff race. A better net run-rate has kept KKR on the fourth spot with Mumbai Indians placed fifth with one game to go for both teams.
