Social media trolls have become a part of the internet culture. The more the social media sites have expanded, the trolls and some netizens attempting to mould perspectives have significantly grown. In a recent incident, a Twitter user tried to troll the title defenders Mumbai Indians. His tweet enraged New Zealand pacer, Mitchell McClenaghan, as he came out to defend his former franchise.

Mumbai are currently occupying the fourth spot on the IPL 2021 points table. In four matches, the most successful franchise has won two games and lost two. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Capitals are above Mumbai Indians.

Meanwhile, in the wake of Mumbai’s hot and cold performance so far, one of the Twitter users is of the view that IPL’s ‘Men in Blue’ will slide down to the last spot by the end of the 14th edition of IPL. Mitchell McClenaghan shuts down a troll with a savage reply.

“Yes MI will move to the bottom,” the user tweeted. Disagreeing with this comment, the Kiwi replied, “Are you dumb?”

The Twitter war did not end there. Another user tried to stretch the flight commenting, “the truth hurts sometimes.” The pacer took a step forward to shut down the trolls, “again how? I’ll auction off every item of cricket gear I have for charity if they end up last,” he replied.

The left-arm pacer has been a part of their title-winning squads four times. McClenaghan became a part of their setup in 2015, and the franchise has always put their bet on him. The Hastings-born seamer was released ahead of the 2021 season. Snapping 71 wickets in 56 IPL games at an economy of 8.49, the speedster did not feature in any game last year. The 34-year-old was replaced by another Kiwi Trent Boult in the playing XI last year.

MI’s batting has been a matter of concern, while their bowlers have guided them out of the web. Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar, and Trent Boult have been gleaming with the ball for the franchise.
