Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has made his predictions for the purple cap winner ahead of the finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. The Gujarat Titans will take on the Rajasthan Royals in the mega clash on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is the joint highest wicket-taker in the tournament with Wanindu Hasaranga. Both have 26 wickets in sixteen matches, however, with a slightly better economy rate, Hasaranga has the purple cap.

Ahead of the final clash, Aakash Chopra has predicted that the Rajasthan Royals spinner will definitely earn the purple cap back. He expects Chahal to pick at least one wicket in the final. In a video on Aakash Chopra’s Youtube Channel, the former cricketer said,

“Chahal to get the Purple Cap back. It is no longer with him, it is with Hasaranga. But I feel in this encounter, in whichever type of pitch the match might be played, I expect two or more wickets from him. I think Chahal will win the Purple cap.”

The Former Indian cricketer also expressed his predictions regarding the top performers with the ball. He expects Shami and Boult together to pick more than four wickets in the match. Aakash Chopra said:

“Shami and Boult will together take more than four wickets. Both Shami and Boult with the new ball. Shami has dismissed Jos (Buttler), and Shimron Hetmyer also many times. Trent Boult can dismiss Saha and has dismissed Wade quite a few times. You look at the bigger players in the final.”

Rajasthan Royals to win the IPL 2022 finals – Aakash Chopra

Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya and the Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson have been impressive in the tournament so far. They have made valuable contributions with the bat, and have done a great job with their leadership.

Aakash Chopra expects both the skippers to do well in the finals for their sides. He also expressed that the Rajasthan Royals will win the elusive title. The former cricketer said:

“Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson, the two captains, will together score at least 60 runs. One is captaining for the first time and the other does the captaincy but is not in the Indian captaincy race. It is an important match for both of them. Their numbers against each other’s teams are fantastic.”

“And I am going with Rajasthan Royals to win, let’s see who wins the match today,” he added.
