The Delhi Capitals made the announcement that they will play their final game against the Chennai Super Kings while donning a unique rainbow jersey.
For their final IPL 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 20 in Delhi, Delhi Capitals (DC) will don their distinctive rainbow-themed jersey. The jersey has been worn by the Delhi-based team for one game each season since 2020 to honour the diversity of India.
The jersey was worn by the players last year when they took on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first game of the second half of the season. Following the game, it was auctioned off to raise money for the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) in Vijayanagar, Karnataka.
In a post on their official social media account, DC announced that their final home game of the season would be against CSK while wearing a rainbow-coloured jersey.
In their most recent game, Delhi Capitals defeated Punjab Kings by 15 runs at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. They will be eager to keep winning against CSK and end the year on a high note by humiliating the four-time champions.
DC’s season got off to a rough start with a five-game losing streak. But they had a remarkable turnaround, winning four of their following five games. But they were eliminated from the tournament after their 11th and 12th games, respectively, losses to CSK and PBKS.
Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha believed that the Delhi Capitals batters were free to express themselves against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 17 in Dharamsala after the stakes of playoff qualification were removed.
“Coach and mentors will be inquiring as to where these Delhi Capitals were. The manner in which they batted, including Prithvi Shaw’s, David Warner’s, and later Rilee Roussow’s. When the going got tough, I believe they played differently, based on what I saw.”
“We’ve had a chance to observe a different style of batting from them now that the pressure is off and they aren’t competing for the tournament, Ojha said in a Jio Cinemas interview following the PBKS victory.”
CSK must win the game in order to advance to the playoffs and have a chance to place in the top two teams during the league stage of the IPL 2023, so it is crucial that they do so. MS Dhoni’s team’s fate will be in the hands of RCB and MI if they lose their final game because their qualification will depend on the results of either of the two teams’ remaining games.
