However, Dhoni has refrained from saying anything of the sort, giving fans hope that the legend will continue to dazzle them with towering sixes.
Harbhajan Singh tells an untold tale from the 2018 IPL
“MS Dhoni cried that night,” says Harbhajan, divulging details of the CSK captain’s unusual “emotional” breakdown.
Many have participated in honoring Dhoni’s illustrious legacy while Dhoni’s retirement has become a hot topic of conversation among his admirers and experts.
Harbhajan Singh, a former teammate of the MSDs from India and CSK, also shared a previously untold account of the legend losing control of his emotions in front of his teammates.
When CSK rejoined the IPL in 2018 after serving a two-year suspension due to a betting scandal, that is when the incident first occurred.
“I want to share a story. After serving a two-year suspension, CSK returned to this league in 2018, and there was a team dinner. Men don’t cry, according to a proverb we’ve probably all heard, but on that particular night, MS Dhoni sobbed”.
”He started crying. I believe nobody is aware of this,” said Dhoni before asking his panellist Imran Tahir, a member of the CSK team, to provide more details about the incident.
”I was there too”, Tahir admitted. For him (MS Dhoni), it was a very emotional time. I realized how much he cares about this team after seeing him in that manner. The team is like his family to him. We were all extremely moved by it.
“After two years, we came back and took home the trophy, earning the public’s moniker “old men Buddha” for our group. We won the championship despite the fact that I was on the team that year. I’m incredibly proud of that victory”.
Dhoni continues to play a significant role in the lucrative T20 league even though Tahir and Harbhajan are no longer active IPL players. Later that evening (Tuesday), he will be seen leading CSK against the reigning champion Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 at Chepauk.
