IPL 2023: “It Doesn’t Matter If He Plays Next Year. Personally, I Don’t Believe He Will”, Says CSK Legend About MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, has remained mum regarding his IPL playing status after the current season.

After defeating the Gujarat Titans in the opening qualifier in Chennai earlier this week, the Chennai Super Kings advanced to their tenth Indian Premier League final.

As they await their opponents for the final in Ahmedabad on Sunday night, the four-time champion CSK will be attempting to match the record-tally of five titles held by Mumbai Indians.

Fans and former players of cricket have praised CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his leadership throughout the season; despite numerous setbacks due to injuries, the Super Kings finished second in the table and defeated the defending champions, defeating the Titans easily by 15 runs to secure a final berth.

In the early years of the competition, Dhoni partnered with Matthew Hayden, a former Australian batter, for CSK. Hayden praised Dhoni, 41, saying that he could turn “trash into treasure”.

To Decide On His Playing Future, Dhoni Has Given Himself 8 To 9 Months

“It Doesn’t Matter If He Plays Next Year. Personally, I don’t believe He Will”, Says CSK Legend About MS Dhoni.

MS is a magician. He transforms what would otherwise be trash into treasure. He is a very knowledgeable and upbeat captain. And He made a really insightful comment that,” In my opinion, captured both his humility and his honesty regarding cricket, specifically the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, where he is represented”, according to Hayden, who spoke to PTI.

“How strong the alignment is with the franchise in terms of establishing that process. That is what MS. Is to me. There is a methodical way to go through and work through things”. Hayden added, “He did that for India and he’s doing it for Chennai Super Kings”.

However, the Australian opener also made a significant statement about Dhoni’s future with CSK, stating that he believes the 2023 season will be Dhoni’s last as a player.

“It is almost irrelevant whether he plays or not in the following season. Personally, I don’t believe he will, but then again, he is MS Dhoni,” said Hayden.

When asked earlier if he would return in 2024, Dhoni refused to say, saying he needed “8–9 months” to decide. “I left the house on January 31, finished my work and started rehearsing on March 2 or 3. And I have a lot of time to think it over, but it takes a lot”.

I am uncertain. As I have eight to nine months to make a choice. Why do that headache right now. There is ample time for me to choose. The auction will take place in December, the 41-year-old stated in the interview that followed CSK’s victory over GT.
