After winning the “most valuable asset of the match” honour against GT, Jadeja launched a new attack on those who doubt his worth as a CSK player.
In fact, Jadeja has won the majority of CSK’s IPL 2023 Player of the Match awards. He has been instrumental in helping the team reach its 10th IPL final following a disappointing campaign in 2018.
The narrative is a little bit different on social media. There have been rumours of a potential rift between Jadeja and the yellow brigade as a result of his sharing, tweeting and liking of content.
In recognition of his all-around efforts, Jadeja was named the “most valuable asset of the game”. He batted for 22 runs off of 16 balls before taking the wickets of Dasun Shanaka and David Miller to finish with outstanding stats of 4 overs 2 for 18.

He posted a photo of himself holding the trophy online after the game with the caption “Upstox knows but. Some fans disagree”.
Jadeja had previously made fun of the fans during the IPL 2023. Jadeja made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t particularly like the fans chanting “Dhoni’s” name when he is batting in the middle during CSK’s home game against DC earlier this month.
Later, he liked another tweet that alluded to the “pain” he must be feeling as a result of the crowd’s inappropriate behaviour despite being one of his team’s biggest match-winners.
The star all-rounder sent out a mysterious tweet, which his wife also quoted, after being seen having an intense conversation with Dhoni immediately after CSK’s final group-stage match against DC.
The rift reports go back to the IPL season before last when Jadeja was asked to relinquish his position as CSK’s captain and hand it back to Dhoni after the team’s disastrous first half of the competition.
There were rumours that Jadeja might leave the four-time champions. But nothing of the sort happened as he continued to play for CSK this year and did so very successfully.
Following their victory over the reigning champions, Dhoni for his part showered Jadeja with praise. “When he has those conditions, Jaddu is tough to hit”.
When asked how he managed to frustrate GT in their 173-run pursuit, Dhoni responded, “Not to mention the partnership between him and Moeen too”.
