The Indian Premier League is the best platform for youngsters to showcase their talent and prove their worth along with international stars. Since its inception in IPL in 2008, it has unearthed many Indian talents and bought into the national squad.
IPL 2023 will witness many more uncapped Indian players that would be eager to perform for their franchises. Apart from star players in each of the 10 franchises, they have some uncapped Indian players who performed well last season and hope to bring success this season.
1 Sai Kishore – Gujarat Titans
The left-arm spinner from Tamil Nadu was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 3 Crore. He played 6 matches in the IPL 2022 and picked up 5 wickets at an economy rate of 7.56 runs per over with best figures of 2 for 17.
Kishore was one of the retained players by Gujarat Titans this season. Sai Kishore took 10 wickets from 8 matches ( 8 innings) at an economy of 6.06 runs per over with best figures of 4 for 28 in that tournament. Tamil Nadu failed to reach the knockout stage of the tournament.
He would be looking to get more games under his belt and hope to bring more success for Gujarat Titans in defending the title.
- Yashasvi Jaiswal – Rajasthan Royals
The left-handed batter from Mumbai, Yashasvi Jaiswal had a dream domestic season including the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022/23. He was in great form with 266 runs from 10 matches (9 innings) with only 1 half-century including the best score of 66 not out.
Jaiswal played a key role for Rajasthan Royal in the 2022 IPL with 258 runs from 10 matches ( 10 innings) including 2 half-centuries with the best score of 68 at a strike rate of 132.98. He was one of the players to be retained by the Rajasthan Royals franchise this season.
The Rajasthan Royals franchise would be hoping to witness Jaiswal perform well in the upcoming tournament and bring RR their title.
- Rajat Patidar – Royal Challengers Bangalore
Rajat Patidar is another uncapped Indian talent done well in IPL. He was unsold in the auction before being bought as an injury replacement by RCB for Rs 20 Lakhs.
He was in brilliant form for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022 with 333 runs from 8 matches ( 7 innings) including 1 century and 2 half-centuries including the best score of 112 not out against Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator. He scored with a strike rate of 152.75 and ensured that RCB reached qualifier 2.
Patidar is doubtful for the first half of this season due to an injury. He would be looking to regain full fitness and showcase his talent in front of the capacity crowds.
- Lucknow Super Giants – Ayush Badoni
Ayush Badoni was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants franchise for Rs 20 Lakhs in IPL 2022 auction. He proved his worth with 161 runs in 13 matches (11 innings) with 1 fifty including the best score of 54. Badoni was impressive playing attacking strokes right from the word go and putting the opponent bowlers under pressure.
After some good performances, Ayush struggled with form and was dropped from the squad. He is one of the players retained by the Lucknow Super Giants franchise this season.
Badoni would be hoping to bring more success to the Lucknow Super Giants franchise with his attacking style of play against both spinners and pacers.
- Yash Dhull – Delhi Capitals
2022 Under 19 winning captain Yash Dhull was bought by the Delhi Capitals franchise for Rs 50 Lakhs. He was not given a chance to feature in the playing XI due to David Warner and Prithvi Shaw opening the innings.
Yash Dhull finished as the leading run-getter in the 2022/23 Syed Mushtaq Ali season. He made 363 runs from 8 matches ( 8 innings) including 3 half-centuries to his name and the best score of 76. Delhi reached the quarterfinals losing to Vidarbha in the last ball thriller.
Dhull could be given a chance in playing XI depending on the condition of the pitch and his ability to hit big shots.
- Shahrukh Khan – Punjab Kings
Shahrukh Khan had a disappointing outing for Punjab Kings in IPL 2022. He was bought by the PBKS franchise for a whopping 9 Crore.
Khan did not deliver according to expectations as PBKS wanted last year. He played only 8 matches in IPL 2022 ( 8 innings) and scored 117 runs with the highest score of just 26 at a strike rate of 108.33.
The explosive right-handed batter was retained by the PBKS franchise in IPL 2023. He would be looking for a much better performance this year and hope to showcase the hitting abilities that he did for Tamil Nadu.
- Kolkata Knight Riders – Rinku Singh
The left-handed batter from Uttar Pradesh, Rinku Singh was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise for Rs 55 Lakhs during last year’s auction. He delivered his price with some brilliant knocks for KKR.
Singh did not feature in the playing XI regularly last year. He scored 174 runs from 7 matches ( 7 innings) with no half-centuries to his name including the best score of 42 not out. He played with a fearless attitude at a strike rate of 148.72.
He was one of the players to be retained by the KKR franchise in IPL 2023. KKR franchise would be hoping that he gets a chance in playing XI and Rinku Singh could show his performances against the best in the world.
- Abhishek Sharma – Sunrisers Hyderabad
The left-handed batter from Punjab, Abhishek Sharma had a great season for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2022 edition of IPL. He was the leading run scorer for SRH with 426 runs from 14 matches ( 14 innings) including 2 half-centuries with the best score of 75 against Chennai Super Kings.
He opened the innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad last season and looked impressive with his shots. Abhishek Sharma performed brilliantly for Punjab in the 2022/23 Syed Mushtaq Ali season including 259 runs from 10 matches ( 10 innings) with 2 half-centuries to his name including the best score of 55 not out.
SRH has an explosive batting order in 2023 and would hope to see Abhishek Sharma flourish providing a flying start to the team.
- Mukesh Choudhary – Chennai Super Kings
The left-arm pace bowler Mukesh Choudhary was bought by the Chennai Super Kings franchise for Rs 20 Lakhs. He was the leading wicket-taker for CSK in the tournament with 16 wickets from 13 matches ( 13 innings) at an economy of 9.31 runs per over and best figures of 4 for 46.
He was one of the players retained by Chennai Super Kings this season. Mukesh Choudhary is in serious doubt to miss the IPL 2023 due to an injury. Despite his performance, CSK finished a disappointing 9th in the points table.
- Arjun Tendulkar – Mumbai Indians
Arjun Tendulkar played for Goa this season in the 2022/23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was impressive with his left arm bowling with 10 wickets from 7 matches (7 innings) at an economy rate of 5.69 runs per over with best figures of 4 for 10.
He is one of the players retained by the Mumbai Indians franchise this season. Arjun Tendulkar has not been given chance by MI as they finished last in 2022. With no Bumrah in the squad, Mumbai Indians franchise might be tempted to give Arjun Tendulkar a chance to feature.
