The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 2023 Indian Premier League campaign has been dealt with a major blow. Batter Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of the tournament. Earlier there were reports expressing doubt over his participation, however, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have confirmed that Patidar will not play this season.
In a statement released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, they wrote that Rajat Patidar has been ruled out due to an Achilles Heel injury. The franchise wished the batter a speedy recovery and added that they will not be naming a replacement player yet. The Royal Challengers Bangalore wrote,

Rajat Patidar was a key performer for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2022 Indian Premier League season. He was their third-leading run-scorer with 333 runs in eight matches at an average of 55.50. The batter also slammed a century last season against the Lucknow Super Giants which was the quickest century by an uncapped player in the Indian Premier League.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Mumbai Indians by eight wickets to begin their campaign in the 2023 Indian Premier League. Bowling first, they restricted Mumbai Indians to 171 runs for seven wickets. Karn Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets. In response, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli’s solid opening partnership laid the platform for a convincing win. Virat Kohli stayed unbeaten on 82 runs, while du Plessis slammed a 43-ball 73. The skipper won the Player of the Match award.
