The stage is set as the 2024 IPL auction is set to take place in Dubai on 19th December 2023. It promises to be an exciting one as a total of 333 players with 214 Indian players and 119 overseas players. Among them, 116 players are capped while 215 will be uncapped. 2 of them are from associate nations. A total of 77 spots will be filled across 10 teams with 30 players will be from overseas.
It has been divided into 19 categories into different sets based on their skills including batters, all-rounders, fast bowlers, spinners, and wicketkeepers.
A total of 23 players have registered themselves for 2 Crore base price including Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Rilee Rossouw, Steve Smith, Gerald Coetzee, Pat Cummins, Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Chris Woakes, Josh Inglis, Lockie Ferguson, Josh Hazelwood, Umesh Yadav, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Adil Rashid, Rassie Van der Dussen, James Vince, Sean Abbott, Jamie Overton, David Willey, Ben Duckett, Mustzifur Rahman, Hasranaga.
Many of them have set base prices of 1.5 Crore including Phil Salt, Colin Munro, Sherfane Rutherford, Tom Curran, Jason Holder, James Neesham, Daniel Sams, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills, Jhye Richardson, Tim Southee, Rovman Powell, Daryl Mitchell, Alazzari Jospeh, Ashton Turner, Bracewell, Dwaine Pretorius, Sam Billings, Gus Atkinson, Kyle Jamieson, Riley Meredith, Adam Milne, Wayne Parnell.
Another few sets of players have a base price of 1 Crore Rs namely David Wiese, Ish Sodhi, Fabien Allen, Finn Allen, Keemo Paul, Shai Hope, Taskin Ahmed, Matt Henry, Lance Morris, Ollie Robinson, Billy Stanlake, Olly Stone, Karun Nair, Manish Pandey, Omarzai, Rachin Ravindra, KS Bharat, Kusal Mendis, Tristian Stubbs, Dilshan Madushanka, Shivam Mavi, Chetan Sakariya, Jaydev Unadkat, Akeal Hossein, Mohammad Waqar.
The teams will look to buy these marquee players and strengthen their teams ahead of the 2024 IPL which is likely to start on 22nd March and finish end of May. The date of the tournament is yet to be known due to general elections.
