Former India cricketer Anil Kumble heaped praise on Virat Kohli for his consistency and on-field attitude in T20 cricket ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League season. The tournament’s seventeenth edition kicks off on March 22 in Chennai, with the hosts taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Virat Kohli has played 237 IPL matches scoring 7263 runs at an average of 37.25 at a strike rate of 130.02. He has seven centuries and fifty half-centuries to his name. In T20Is, Kohli has scored 4037 runs at an average of 51.75, including a century. Anil Kumble lauded Kohli’s consistency and also recalled his transformation. He said to Jio Cinema,

“I would say consistency. I saw him in RCB when I was a part of RCB, that’s where he started his T20 career, after being a U-19 World Cup winner. From there, the transformation in his fitness, the way he wanted to play his cricket, and the performances he put in white-ball cricket.”

Former cricketer Anil Kumble further highlighted Virat Kohli’s consistency. He also spoke about the batter’s aggression on the field, which helped him to gain intensity. Kohli is one of the most expressive cricketers on the field. Speaking to Jio Cinema, Anil Kumble said,

“In Test cricket, we know his greatness. In T20s for India, his consistency over some time has been immense. The kind of aggression and attitude he brings onto the field help the team gain intensity.”

Virat Kohli has been an integral part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. The franchise will be hoping that he delivers another great season with the bat for them. The veteran batter will also be key for India at the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The mega-event is set to take place in June in the West Indies and USA, right after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League.
