Delhi Capitals will host Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 16 of IPL 2024 to be played at Vizag on 3rd April. It promises to be an exciting battle with DC looking confident after their impressive 20-run win over defending Champions Chennai Super Kings.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders also registered an impressive win over RCB at their den. They will be looking to continue their winning run and move up the top points table with RR.
Both teams have top-quality players who can change the course of the game with their abilities.
Here we look at the 3 player battles to look out for in match 16 of IPL 2024 between DC and KKR:
- David Warner vs Mitchell Starc
David Warner looked in sublime touch during the previous match against CSK. He made 52 laying a strong foundation for DC to post a big total. On the other hand, Mitchell Starc looked out of sorts with figures of 0 for 47 in 4 overs.
With the conditions at Vizag likely to help pace bowlers under lights, Starc will be hopeful for a better performance and pick early wickets in the first six overs. The left arm medium pace bowler, Starc has grabbed Warner once while Warner scored 25 runs in the tournament.
It will be an interesting battle with the new ball as Warner would look to continue his superb form while Starc would look to create pressure on his teammate with a wicket to put pressure on DC’s batting.
- Rishabh Pant vs Sunil Narine
Delhi Capitals captain Pant returned to form with a well-compliant fifty against CSK that helped them to post 191 for 5. He will be eager to display another brilliant batting to put pressure on KKR bowling.
On the other hand, Sunil Narine struggled with figures of 1 for 40 in 4 overs against RCB. The role of Narine would be to pick wickets in middle overs and restrict the run flow. West Indies spinner, Narine has not dismissed Pant yet in IPL.
Pant will look to attack Sunil Narine and put pressure on the KKR bowling lineup, especially Sunil Narine.
- Phil Salt vs Khaleel Ahmed
Phil Salt looked in sublime touch with an attacking approach in the first six overs against RCB. He never allowed the bowlers to settle and made life tough for them. On the other hand, Khaleel Ahmed showed his class picking 2 wickets in the first six overs against CSK which dented their chances.
Khaleel Ahmed would be eager to prove his worth once again with the new ball. Khaleel’s performance has been impressive so far with 6 wickets. It will be the first time these two players will face each other. The battle in the first six overs would decide the fate of the match.
