Delhi Capitals registered their first win of the tournament as they defeated Chennai Super Kings in a high-scoring thriller played at Vizag on 31st March 2024. DC captain Pant won the toss and decided to bat first. David Warner and Shaw gave a flying start to the team putting pressure on CSK bowlers. Pant came to the crease after the fall of Warner’s wicket.
Delhi Capitals lost momentum as they lost 2 quick wickets of Warner and Shaw in quick succession. Mitchell Marsh showed intent in putting pressure on CSK bowlers. Mitchell Marsh and Stubbs went in quick succession with brilliant bowling by Pathirana.
Pant looked cautious enough before launching an assault on Pathirana that changed the momentum in favor of Delhi Capitals. He smashed 16 runs and completed his fifty off 31 balls. His innings ensured that Delhi Capitals posted 191 for 5 in 20 overs. During his innings of 51, Pant smashed 4 fours and 3 sixes to his name.

Thanks to a disciplined bowling effort, Delhi Capitals registered their first win of the tournament. Khaleel Ahmed got rid of CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad putting pressure back on CSK batting.
Ahmed struck again to dismiss Rachin Ravindra leaving CSK in trouble. Mitchell and Rahane showed intent to put some pressure on DC bowlers. After the first timeout, Mitchell and Rahane looked in sublime touch. Axar Patel dismissed Mitchell with simple return catch ending a 68-run partnership for 3rd wicket. Mukesh Kumar showed his courage by getting wickets of Rahane and Sameer Rizvi off successive deliveries.
MS Dhoni showed his vintage performance with some lusty hits, but Delhi Capitals held onto their nerves to win by 20 runs. For DC, Mukesh Kumar took 3 for 21, Khaleel Ahmed 2 for 21, Axar 1 for 20 in 3 overs.
