All you need to know about 2024 IPL auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season will reportedly kick off on March 22, 2024, with the final on May 22. However, a final call on the schedule will only be taken after the announcement of the dates for the General Elections in India.

According to Cribuzz, the tournament is likely to be held completely in India, despite the elections. The schedule will be planned after the election dates are announced. The tentative date to kick off the 2024 Indian Premier League season is March 22. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has discussed the schedule with the stakeholders. The board has also received assurances from all the cricket boards for the availability of their players for the IPL 2024. However, with the T20 World Cup commencing just a few days later, some players might depart early.

The Chennai Super Kings won the last season of the Indian Premier League. They defeated Gujarat Titans in the final in Ahmedabad to win, winning their fifth title. Last week, the BCCI announced that the TATA Group has extended its title sponsorship rights for the next five years, from IPL 2024-28. The Indian conglomerate also holds the title sponsorship rights for the Women’s Premier League.

Women’s Premier League (WPL) to kick off on February 22

The second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to take place from February 22 to March 17 as reported by Cricbuzz. The tournament is likely to be held in Bengaluru and Delhi. The official announcement of the dates is expected anytime soon by the BCCI. The auctions took place last year on December 9 in Mumbai. It witnessed history as Kashvee Gautam became the most expensive uncapped player at the auction, fetching INR 2 crore from Gujarat Giants. The Mumbai Indians won the inaugural edition defeating the Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
