Royal Challengers Bengaluru kept their playoff hopes alive with a resounding 47-run win over Delhi Capitals at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 12th May 2024.

RCB bowlers kept looking threatening with discipline lines and lengths not allowing DC batters to score runs easily. Swapnil Singh got rid of impact player David Warner in his first over. Yash Dayal dismissed Abhishek Porel and then ran out Jake Fraser McGurk on his follow-through. Siraj bowled a lovely delivery to dismiss Kumar Kushagra leaving Delhi Capitals in trouble at 30 for 4.

Shai Hope and stand-in captain Axar Patel steadied the ship for Delhi Capitals taking singles and hitting boundaries keeping the scoreboard ticking. A superb piece of catching by Karn Sharma resulted in the wicket of Shai Hope. Hope and Axar Patel added 56 runs for the 5th wicket. Cameron Green then produced magic getting rid of Stubbs with a wonderful throw hitting the stumps directly and leaving Delhi Capitals in trouble.

Axar Patel showed intent with some lovely shots keeping the momentum going for Delhi Capitals. Green struck again to dismiss Rasikh Salam with an easy catch by Jacks. Axar and Rasikh added 37 runs for the 7th wicket. Dayal did a superb job getting the wicket of Axar to end Delhi Capitals’ hopes of winning. RCB skittled out Delhi Capitals for 140 in 19.1 overs. Yash Dayal was the pick of bowlers with 3 for 20, Ferguson 2 while Green, Swapnil Singh, and Siraj took 1 wicket each.

With this win, RCB climbed to fifth position in the points table with a run rate of +0.387. Their final league match will be against CSK on 18th May which could become a deciding encounter. For his all-round efforts, Cameron Green was named the player of the match award.

Brilliant Batting By Rajat Patidar

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the toss and decided to field first. Kohli looked in great form putting bowlers under immense pressure. RCB captain Faf du Plessis and Kohli fell cheaply.

Rajat Patidar came to the crease with positive intent putting the DC bowlers under immense pressure along with Will Jacks. Patidar looked in great form against spinners keeping momentum going for RCB. At the end of the first six overs, RCB raced away to 61 for 2.

Patidar completed his fifty off 29 deliveries keeping the momentum going for RCB. His innings came to an end caught by Axar Patel. Patidar and Will Jacks added 88 runs for the 3rd wicket. Cameron Green played a lovely knock that helped RCB post 187 for 9 as Dinesh Karthik, Mahipal Lomror, and Swapnil Singh could not contribute much.
